Sam tells Mike that she needs to have a brand new EDM template designed and built this afternoon. It’s urgent!
Mike stops what he’s working on and starts to think through all the different steps he’ll have to go through - layout for the template, code and then test. And he’ll need Sam to provide all the assets including images and copy.
A new EDM template typically takes Mike 8 hours from start to finish. But there are only 6 hours left in the day. There’s no way he can finish it in time.
Mike tells Sam the bad news, whose day is going from bad to worse.
What a disaster!
Let’s try that again - this time asking why
Sam tells Mike that she needs to have a brand new EDM template designed and built this afternoon. It’s urgent!
Mike asks why so urgent? Sam replies that marketing are launching a new product and in all the commotion of the past few weeks the EDM was totally forgotten. If she doesn’t get this EDM out on time it’s her job on the line!
Mike explains that to design and build a new EDM template in a few hours isn’t possible. However if Sam’s key requirement is to have an EDM ready to send this afternoon, why not rework one of the existing templates?
In all the rushing around she’d been doing, Sam hadn’t thought of that. Great idea Mike! But when could it be done?
Mike replies that if Sam can give him the images and copy ASAP, he could update the template within an hour.
Crisis averted.
