Who they are
The Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) NSW is the leading not-for-profit membership association supporting the NSW public service. With deep expertise in public administration, IPAA NSW is uniquely positioned to design and deliver learning programs tailored to the needs of government employees.
Features used:
The challenges
Knowledge gaps
IPAA NSW wanted to address knowledge gaps among public servants, including new employees transitioning from other sectors and experienced staff who may not regularly engage with key government frameworks. Understanding the complexities of the NSW government is essential for effective governance, ethical decision-making, and high-performance teams. They needed a solution that could deliver the content in an engaging way and embed the knowledge.
Distributed members
IPAA NSW has over 40,000 members, including staff from all government Portfolios and their Agencies, Commissions and independent bodies across the NSW public sector. With members spread out across the state, IPAA NSW needed a solution that would upskill a large number of people, be easily accessible, and at a time convenient to them, particularly given the dynamic nature of the workforce.

How Yarno addressed these challenges
As part of the Sprouta ecosystem, Yarno partnered with IPAA NSW to deliver the Working in Government program, a tailored, content-rich, and flexible learning approach designed to drive the NSW government’s strategic goal of strengthening public sector capability.
Using Yarno’s platform, complex content was transformed into practical, bite-sized, accessible learning (including short videos) with leaderboards and team rankings to drive engagement. Yarno’s learning design team conducted extensive research, speaking with SMEs across government portfolios to ensure content relevance for every brand of the NSW public sector. They created detailed explainer resources that made key concepts easy to understand and apply.
To date, IPAA NSW has run five campaigns – one pilot and four public campaigns.
