Yarno's COVID-19 response: complimentary courses and resources for you and your team

Courtney Dutton, 4 min read

The world is changing every day. With everything developing so quickly, we will update this page accordingly when our response to the coronavirus crisis changes or evolves.

All Australians are now impacted by the coronavirus, both professionally and personally. We know many of our customers are trying to communicate reliable information about the coronavirus to their workforces. And we want to help.

To help you communicate consistent messaging across your organisation about the coronavirus crisis, we've decided to make available two complimentary courses: a coronavirus campaign, and a cyber security campaign (more on why we're including cyber security below).

At the bottom of this post, we've also provided a list of remote working resources that we've created over the years. Due to social distancing measures, the coronavirus crisis has meant that a lot of businesses have had to work remotely for the first time. Flexible and remote work has been a part of Yarno culture since day one, so the transition to fully remote work has felt almost natural for us.

However, this isn't the case for everyone. Of course, there are some things that just can't be replicated in a Zoom meeting. But there's a lot that can. If you're interested in how to maintain business-as-usual during these unusual times, you can read our resources at the end.

Coronavirus campaign

The course covers key messages in hygiene, social distancing, and what to do if unwell. We've used publicly accessible resources from the Department of Health and the World Health Organisation. We continually update the course as the situation changes, so you can be sure that any information you send out to your team is up-to-date and correct.

We originally planned to write 5-10 questions but, as we got into it, we felt there was more to cover. So we decided to write more questions, and give you the choice whether you run them as a burst or an embed campaign.

Topics covered in the course:

  • Details of the disease - what coronavirus is, and how it spreads.
  • Stopping the spread - simple strategies we can each employ every day to reduce the rate of infection.
  • Protecting yourself - how you can safeguard yourself against infection.
  • Mythbusters - the real story about some of the so-called coronavirus 'cures' running around the rumour mill.

Transport-specific questions

We do a lot of work with the transport and logistics industry, and because of this, we know that they've been called upon a lot to help us all in this crisis. To help out our friends in the transport industry, we've created an extra set of transport-specific questions.

These questions cover common scenarios that truck drivers will be faced with amid this crisis and provide clear messaging on how to handle each scenario with ease, efficiency, and the minimum risk of spreading the virus.

Cyber Security Essentials embed campaign

Apparently, scam texts are being sent that appear to come from 'GOV' as the sender. They include a link to find out when to ‘get tested in your geographical area’ for COVID-19. The link in these text messages is not legitimate, and if clicked on, may install malicious software on your device, designed to steal your banking details.

We're also offering a complimentary Cyber Security Essentials embed campaign. This campaign includes questions that deal specifically with scams surrounding coronavirus, such as the one mentioned above, along with security and privacy scenarios that will help your team understand how they can identify, prevent and report breaches – keeping your organisation, employees, and customers safe.

Topics covered in the course:

  • Security essentials - those day to day habits we all need to embed to keep cyber safe.
  • Phishing - what it is, how to recognise it, and how not to get phished.
  • Common scams - scenario based questions that cover common scams, including coronavirus-specific scenarios.

How do I get access to the courses?

If you'd like to use either (or both!) courses at your organisation, or have any questions about the courses, email or call Mark, our Head of Sales, at 0401 872 305 or mark@yarno.com.au.

If you're an existing customer, you can get in touch with your Yarno CSM for any questions or queries you have about the courses.

Both the coronavirus campaign and the Cyber Security Essentials embed campaign will be available for three months, on a complimentary basis. At which point, we'll reassess based on the status of the coronavirus.

The transition to remote work

Working remotely can be scary! So much of running a business is passive; chats at the lunch table, looking over your desk to see if someone's busy, collaboration and creation. Working remotely can mean losing a lot. But it doesn't have to.

Below is a list of our experiences and strategies of working flexibly and remotely. We've worked hard to refine and define our processes enough to keep the Yarno engine running regardless of geography. The list below is how we do it; we hope it might help you too:

The future

None of us knows how long this will last, not even the big guy at the top (ScoMo). We're committed to finding opportunity out of crisis. We hope that our courses and resources will provide some service to you, and we'll keep updating them as the situation, and our response to it, evolves. If you feel there is some other way we can help you, please email Lachy, our Managing Director at lachy@yarno.com.au.
